About Us
The Dairy Queen® (DQ®) brand has been a beloved national icon since the first store opened in Illinois in 1940. Since that time, the brand has grown to include over 6,000 stores in multiple countries. Five of these stores are located in and around the Triangle area and are operated under our franchise brand, MAD Treats, Inc.
A Lasting Legacy
MAD Treats, Inc. was formed back in 2005 when Dennis, MaryEllen, and Andrew Valkanoff purchased DQ® Grill & Chill multiple unit development rights. We then went on to open our very first DQ® Grill & Chill store in Raleigh. That store, located on New Bern Avenue, still operates today. We didn’t stop there, though! We loved the DQ® brand (and all the great people we got to meet). We now have locations in Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville, Fuquay Varina, and Sanford.

Our Triangle Dairy Queen® stores have been very successful. DQ®’s delicious treats and scrumptious eats have a lot to do with that.
